GAS DETECTION SYSTEMS

SOTEC offers a complete product line of combustible and toxic gas detection systems from manufacturers, such as Bacharach, Crowcon, Detector Electronics, Gastech and General Monitors. All equipment carries a third-party approval (UL, FM, Cenelec, CSA). A customized system is created for each specific project, by analysis of a customer’s needs and applicable code requirements. All systems are engineered to comply with applicable local, national and international regulatory agencies.

Catalytic and infrared combustible gas detection systems are available from most equipment manufacturers for industrial, offshore and marine applications. These units are comprised of detector and transmitter assemblies and typically send either a 4-20 ma or RS-485 Modbus signal to a controller, PLC or DCS system for status monitoring. The control unit processes this information and provides subsequent alarm and control outputs.

Toxic gas detection systems provide the customer with a reliable means of detecting gases, such as hydrogen sulphide, carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide. These units are generally based on an electrochemical technology design, comprised of detector and transmitter assemblies, and also typically send either a 4-20 ma or RS-485 Modbus signal to a controller, PLC or DCS system for status monitoring.

Also available for large area monitoring are "open-path" type units which consist of transmitter and receiver components that project a beam over a set distance. When combustible gas is absorbed into the beam, a corresponding signal is transmitted, indicating presence of gas.

SOTEC has the engineering and assembly capabilities of integrating fire and gas detection, as well as PLC and annunciator packages, into a custom fire and gas protection enclosure. These systems are fully tested in our New Orleans facility and delivered to customers worldwide.
